History of the JMJ Society in India – Bangalore
After the division of the one Indian Province into three autonomous Indian Provinces, a new era began for the Bangalore Province. The Province was officially inaugurated on July 19, 1987. The office of the Provincialate was temporarily established on a wing of the novitiate building on the St. Stanislaus campus. The Provincialate could not function long there in the formation house with its limited facilities, thus shifted to the newly built Provincialate in JMJ Health Centre, Nagavara Campus, a quiet and suitable place.
The foundation stone for the new Provincialate was laid on September 20, 1990, by the late Rev. Sr. Joanette Mallavarapu. The then Superior General Sr. Benedict Melchers inaugurated the house on February 14, 1992. However, the Provincialate was shifted only on April 4, 1992.
Today, the Province is spread across various states of India, having 29 communities, of which 20 started after the division, with 233 sisters. Our Sisters are serving in various apostolates like education, health care, social work, pastoral care and evangelization according to the signs of the time, the needs of the people and place and the spirit and charism of the Society.

History of the JMJ Society in India – Guntur
The Guntur Province started functioning as an autonomous province since July 1987. The office of the Provincialate was first established on the present campus JMJ Prasanth Nilayam and later it was shifted to JMJ Snehalaya, Mangalagiri in 2001. The province runs schools, healthcare centres, social-service projects and formation houses and is part of the wider national/international JMJ structure.
The Guntur Province serves through 31 communities and more than 90 institutions engaged in various ministries, including social work, medical care, education, homes for the aged, homes for the destitute, as well as pastoral and evangelical apostolates. The Province consists of 253 sisters who are serving in several countries, including India, Italy, the USA, Ghana, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Nigeria, and Isernia.

History of the JMJ Society in India – Hyderabad
Hyderabad was the first established Indian Province in 1962 with Mother Ferdinado Klaassen as Provincial Superior with four assistants: two Dutch and two Indians. In 1968, a provincial board was appointed, which was made solely of Indian Sisters, under the leadership of Mother Josepha Rachamalla. Later in 1987, this one Indian Province was divided into three autonomous provinces, namely: Bangalore, Guntur and Hyderabad.
At present, the Hyderabad Province has around 180 members working in 29 communities with various ministries like health care, education, social work, safeguarding, etc. Hence, the sisters are imparting the vision and mission of our founder, Rev. Fr. Mathias Wolff SJ, by responding to the signs of the times and voicing out for the empowerment of women and the neglected.

History of the JMJ Society in India – Raipur
Raipur is the capital city of Chhattisgarh, and to this city the JMJ sisters were invited by Reverent Mgr. John Widner in the year 1967, when it was part of Madhya Pradesh. At that time, the first parish priest of Tatibandh Church was Rev.Fr. Edward Demoulder. He started the Mission as a rural parish. Later on Tatibandh turned out to be a local parish. The JMJ sisters were invited to provide education facility along with the parish activities. Having had no educational institution in the vicinity, an English medium School was established in the year 1968. To extend literacy to the girl children of neighbouring districts of Raigrh, Ambikapur, etc., the school provided a residential facility. With the passage of time, the institution grew to a full-fledged Higher Secondary School with both Hindi & English Media.
While the Raipur community belonged to the Hyderabad Province, a further bifurcation took place in the year 2009. For the convenience of administrative purposes, Hyderabad Province was divided, and a new province, namely Raipur Province, was formed. Bharat Mata Hostel was renovated, and it became the Provincial House of Raipur Province.
The Hyderabad Province was divided into two autonomous provinces, namely Hyderabad and Raipur. They began functioning from 29th September 2009. The new province had 116 members in its inception with 15 Institutions under it. The Province day is celebrated on 29th September 2009.

Congregation of JMJ – Ghana Region, West Africa
Our mission in Ghana started in the year July 1990 with five Sisters from India and Indonesia. Our first mission station was in Yeji, and now, on 8th September 2009, it has been formed as a Region. Sr. Regina Guvvala was appointed as the Regional Superior of Ghana, West Africa. There are seven Communities under this region with 25 Sisters from Indian Provinces and Ghana. To continue the JMJ presence in Ghana, local vocations have been admitted to the JMJ since 2007. The Region now aims at spreading its services in other parts of Africa and encouraging the natives with a broader vision of extending its services to many.
Holy Family Foundation – Netherlands
The Holy Family Foundation in the Netherlands is the global social and apostolic arm of the Congregation of Jesus, Mary, Joseph (JMJ). Originally headquartered at Sint Janssingel 88, 's-Hertogenbosch, it is dedicated to global education, healthcare, elder care, and poverty relief, with an emphasis on empowering women and marginalized communities.
The foundation is an active member of VIVAT International and holds special consultative status with the United Nations. While it started in the Netherlands, the ministry has grown internationally, running schools, hospitals, and social services in countries like India, Indonesia, and Ghana.
The Dutch branch focuses on apostolic outreach, supporting the elderly, promoting sustainability, and backing international development programs aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
