The Province Safeguarding Commission (PSC) continued its mission of promoting safe environments and strengthening safeguarding practices throughout the Province during 2025–2026.The journey began with the Oath Taking Ceremony of the PSC members on 9 May 2025, conducted online in the presence of all the communities of the Province. This marked the formal commencement of the Commission’s safeguarding ministry.
In July 2025, safeguarding coordinators from four provinces gathered at JMJ Provincialate, Hyderabad, to initiate the drafting of the Province Safeguarding Policy. The drafting committee consisted of Sr. Santhosh Mary Michael, Sr. Julie, Sr. Swarna Yeruva, and Sr. Pushpi. Their collaborative efforts laid the foundation for a comprehensive safeguarding framework for the Province.
On 9 November 2025, the PSC met at JMJ Provincialate to discuss key safeguarding initiatives. The Commission finalized the list of Safeguarding Units and proposed Unit Safeguarding Officers (USOs). Discussions also focused on capacity building, awareness programmes, preparation of the annual action plan, and budget proposals for safeguarding activities. During the meeting, Sr. Pauline Nusi, Provincial Superior, emphasized that safeguarding minors and vulnerable adults is a sacred responsibility and called for commitment, competence, and generosity in this ministry. The draft of safeguarding policy was presented, reviewed, and refined through the valuable contributions of the members.
A major milestone was achieved on 13 February 2026 with the official release of the Province Safeguarding Policy during the celebration of the declaration of Venerable Mary Glowrey. The policy was formally released by His Eminence Cardinal Poola Antony in the presence of priests and sisters. Sr. Pauline Nusi appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Province Safeguarding Commission, the Policy Drafting Committee, and Sr. Jose Mary V. in preparing a clear and comprehensive policy. Copies of the policy were distributed to His Eminence Cardinal Poola Antony,Provincial Council and PSC members.
To strengthen safeguarding competency across the Province, 17 sisters were enrolled in the Diploma in Safeguarding Programme. This initiative reflects the Province’s commitment to ongoing formation, capacity building, and the creation of safe and respectful environments in all its ministries.
The Province Safeguarding Commission held an online meeting on 4 March 2026 to plan the Safeguarding Zonal Sessions for July–August 2026. The members discussed the formation of zones, session topics, responsible persons, venues, and schedules. Key topics identified for the sessions included safeguarding principles, policy guidelines, code of conduct, and mandatory reporting. Eight zones were formed, and coordinators were assigned to conduct the input sessions across the Province. The meeting concluded with the decision to hold a demo class on 24 May 2026 to ensure effective preparation and implementation.
The Province Safeguarding Commission expresses gratitude to the Provincial Council, province safeguarding commission, and all collaborators for their support and cooperation.
