Safeguarding Policy

JMJ Raipur Province Safeguarding Commission Annual Report 2025–2026

The Raipur Province firmly commits itself to protecting every minor and vulnerable adult entrusted to our care. Their safety and dignity are precious. Safeguarding is not an added responsibility; it flows from who we are and from the mission we have received. In our communities, schools, institutions, and ministries, we strive to create spaces where every person feels safe, valued, and respected.

The safeguarding efforts of the Raipur Province were strengthened through the participation of Sr. Pushpy Michael in the Safeguarding Policy drafting initiative held at the JMJ Provincialate, Hyderabad, in July 2025. Working alongside safeguarding representatives from other Provinces, she contributed to the formulation of a comprehensive policy that would serve as a guiding framework for safeguarding practices within the province.

A significant milestone in the safeguarding mission of the Raipur Province was reached on 17 February 2026 with the online Oath-Taking Ceremony of the Province Safeguarding Commission (PSC) members and Unit Safeguarding Officers (USOs), followed by the official release of the Province Safeguarding Policy by Rev. Sr. Mary Kutty Antony. These two important events marked the formal establishment of the province’s safeguarding structures and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of safety, respect, and protection for minors and vulnerable adults.

Recognizing the importance of continuous formation in safeguarding, the province facilitated the enrolment of 23 sisters in the Diploma in Safeguarding Programme and Sr. Tresa Parwar is pursuing her Licentiate in Safeguarding Minor and Vulnerable Adults at Gregorian Pontifical University, Rome. Through this educational initiative, the province invested in developing competent safeguarding personnel who can effectively promote the protection, dignity, and well-being of all those entrusted to its care.

The Province Safeguarding Commission (PSC) of the Raipur Province held a meeting26/3/26Decided to have an awareness session on congregational safeguarding policy for the sisters so on 30-31 March a two-day online session was held on Congregational Safeguarding Policy by Sr. Joseph Mary Vadlamuri. An online awareness session on province safeguarding policy is planned in the month of July 2026 by Sr. Pushpy Michael

The Commission identified the following topics for the safeguarding awareness programme from July to December 2026: Leadership & Accountability in Safeguarding, Understanding Safeguarding in Religious Life, Canonical and Legal Dimensions of Safeguarding, Safeguarding in Educational Ministries, Safeguarding in Social Apostolate, Psychological Awareness and Trauma Care, Medical Perspective in Safeguarding, and Digital and Media Responsibility in Safeguarding. These sessions aim to strengthen safeguarding awareness, responsibility, and best practices across the province.

The Province Safeguarding Commission gratefully acknowledges the encouragement and support of the Provincial Council, the dedicated efforts of the Commission members, and the cooperation of all collaborators. Together, we remain committed to promoting safeguarding as an integral part of our mission by creating environments where dignity is respected, protection is ensured, accountability is upheld, and every person, particularly minors and vulnerable adults, is valued and cared for.
